Position Summary
The School Principal is responsible for providing the instructional, operational, and administrative leadership necessary to ensure the success of the school, including primary responsibility for academic achievement and financial performance.  The School Principal is the overall leader of the school, managing and developing the Assistant Principals and members of the School Leadership team. The School Principal will be held accountable for the continuous improvement of the school, the staff, and most importantly, for student achievement.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Set ambitious school-wide vision and goals that lead students on a path to college:
Ensure that the school curriculum aligns with the mission, beliefs, priorities, and initiatives of InspireNOLA;
Analyze assessment data and set goals for ongoing improvement in coordination with other administrators and teachers;
Share the school’s vision with the community and lead team members in actively engaging the community to support and assist in accomplishing that vision;
Continually evaluate existing programs and practices, curriculum content, and encourage continued improvement in teaching methods in cooperation with Network Office staff, content specialists and school;
Identify intellectual, physical, social and emotional needs affecting students’ success in school, and take steps to direct and coordinate the efforts of teachers and parents with staff services and special education personnel;
Implement or recommend changes that will lead to improved administration, supervision and opportunity for student academic growth and development;
Full comprehension and adherence to state standards and guidelines;
Collaborate with the CAO to develop an academic improvement plan;
Deliver testing protocol trainings to Principals and other administrators; 
Collaborate with the CAO to develop and implement the school Student Improvement Plan.

Create and maintain a positive school environment:
Maintain an educational philosophy and school climate that encourages a cooperative and participating attitude on the part of all teachers and students;
Develop and administer the daily school routine, and coordinate all activities within the school building;
Maintain the InspireNOLA culture expectations, with the goal of minimizing student misbehaviors and classroom disruptions.
Demonstrate willingness to coach leaders at other schools (as needed).

Hire, manage, and develop school faculty and staff: 
Observe, counsel, coach, and motivate professional staff to support school academic goals; 
Recruit for vacant and/or hard to fill positions; 
Participate fully in the selection process for all new teaching and support staff; 
Plan and conduct professional development sessions and faculty meetings as necessary;
Actively participate and encourage staff participation in parent-teacher and other community groups, as a means of developing understanding, cooperation, and respect for school objectives and endeavors.

Lead community, operational, and financial functions:
Provide coaching and direction to the School Operations Manager; 
Utilize the Parent and Community Liaison to build effective partnerships with community organizations that can serve and advocate on behalf of our students; 
Effectively communicate with staff, students, and parents to ensure all parties are properly informed all of decisions and school updates;
Collaborate with the CFO to accurately manage all school finances;
Make financial recommendations to the CFO;
Ensure all school financial records are consistently available and up to date for reporting as needed.

Direct Reports (may include):
Assistant Principals, Dean of Students, Support Staff
Position Qualifications & Competencies
Belief in the mission and values of InspireNOLA;
Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s degree preferred;
Prior experience in an urban, high-poverty and/or turnaround schoo;
At least 5 years of educational leadership experience, with track record of successful outcomes for students;
Proven ability to cultivate partnerships and build consensus; 
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Comfort defining and upholding high expectations, including delivering and receiving constructive feedback; 
Proficiency in all Microsoft programs, and comfort using database programs.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as TRSL, our employee retirement contribution, is included.
