InspireNOLA Charter Schools and partners will host a community “Inspire to Serve: MLK Food Giveaway” drive-thru on Saturday, January 16 at Pierre A. Capdau Charter School, 5800 St. Roch Ave., New Orleans.

The event is open to all and starts at 11 a.m. One turkey and bag of food items will be given per vehicle, while supplies last.

“We recognize the need not just in our schools, but in our community, which has been made greater by the pandemic, and we believe it is our responsibility to help,” said Jamar McKneely, InspireNOLA Chief Executive Officer.

Partnering with InspireNOLA for this event are: NFP, Gallagher, Adams and Reese LLP, Young Men Olympians, State Sen. Joseph Bouie, State Sen. Jimmy Harris, State Sen. Karen Carter Peterson, State Rep. Royce Duplessis, State Rep. Matthew Willard, District Attorney Jason Williams, City Councilman Jared Brossett, OPSB Board Member Ethan Ashley, and OPSB Board Member Olin Parker.

“We’d like to offer a heartfelt thank you to our partners and sponsors of not only this event but also of our two giveaways held during the holiday season,” said Timolynn Sams, Director of Community Engagement and Impact for InspireNOLA. “By coming together as a community, we are able to offer assistance to our families and neighbors.”

The event is part of the ongoing InspireNOLA 360˚ initiative, designed to support InspireNOLA students and families impacted by life circumstances with resources and access to important support programs.

“Together, we are facing an unprecedented crisis in our community. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re scaling student support, creating a holistic experience to serve our high-achieving student body,” Sams said. “Every student should have 360˚ of support to assist them in their academic learning, and to remove non-academic barriers that may impact their educational journey.”
