Position Summary

The Educational Diagnostician is an important member of InspireNOLA network office team, and primarily conducts evaluations of students with exceptionalities and refers them to the appropriate services.  In addition, the Educational Diagnostician role provides psychological, social, sensory and educational services to students across all five InspireNOLA Charter Schools.
 
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Functions as evaluation coordinator for designated referred students;
Facilitates the Student Assistance Team (SATeam) process by participating as a representative of the Student Evaluation & Support Services team in providing feedback on best practices in the student assistance team process;
Explains and interprets assessment services/findings to parents, teachers, principals, and other appropriate personnel;
Implements and/or assists teachers and other school personnel in the design and implementation of educational and behavioral interventions for support services to clients;
Provides a written report of any academic/behavioral support services provided to necessary parties;
Attends the Tier III data meetings to participate in the development of evidence-based interventions and to assist in the analysis of the plans’ effectiveness;
Conducts evaluations as a Student Evaluation & Support Services member and in accordance with Bulletin 1508, the Pupil Appraisal Handbook, of students suspected of being exceptional.  Evaluations include activities such as: appraisal of students’ developmental and educational functioning, descriptions of educational strategies, and needed academic and environmental adjustments and /or curricular modifications;
Participates in Individual Education Plan (IEP) reviews and meetings as appropriate; 
Confers with parents, teachers, principals, the director of special education and other district professional staff whenever necessary on matters relative to assessment, academic/behavioral interventions, exceptional children, learning, teaching strategies, classroom management, Tier III evidence-based interventions and other areas of responsibility or expertise of the educational diagnostician;
Provides or assists in the provision of in-service training of school personnel and parents on such topics as pupil appraisal services, special education eligibility criteria, exceptional children, learning styles, classroom management, intervention strategies/ techniques, Response to Intervention (RtI) process and other areas of expertise; 
Cooperates with personnel from community health and social service agencies; 
Assists in maintaining accurate case records on all clients in accordance with the requirements of local, state, and federal laws, regulations and/or policies;
Attends assigned staff, professional, and interagency meetings in order to remain informed of new developments in the areas related to the evaluation and support services process;
Performs such other duties as required.  

Qualifications

Belief in the mission and values of InspireNOLA; 
Master’s degree required with certification in at least two areas of Special Education, one of which must be mild/moderate, in accordance with the regulations of the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.  
Valid Educational Diagnostician Certification (required);
Excellent communication and people skills, with an ability to represent the mission and values of InspireNOLA Charter Schools in conversations;
A passion and skill for connecting with people and building relationships;
Outstanding organizational skills, with extraordinary attention to detail;
Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and a self-starter approach;
