COVID-19 vaccination, testing policy update for staff and students

InspireNOLA Charter Schools is committed to protecting the health and overall wellness of its students, staff, and school community.  

As both the Orleans Parish School Board and the broader New Orleans community put additional measures in place that work toward the safe continuation of work and other activities, we also embrace a more comprehensive strategy designed to reduce the likelihood of transmission of the COVID-19 virus while keeping our scholars and school community healthy and in person for learning experiences. 

As of August 16, 2021, InspireNOLA Charter Schools requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 OR submit evidence of a negative PCR test weekly.  

Additionally, since extra-curricular activities are not required, only fully vaccinated students age 12 and older or those under the age of 12 with a weekly negative PCR test will be allowed to participate in extra-curricular activities, including athletics, band, and choir.

InspireNOLA Charter Schools, following the direction of New Orleans city officials, will also mandate that anyone attending any InspireNOLA athletic or school-sponsored event must be either fully vaccinated or provide evidence of a negative PCR test administered within the previous 72 hours of the event. 

COVID-19 vaccinations are widely available. To schedule a vaccination, find a provider, or to connect with medical professionals who can answer your questions, call the Louisiana Department of Health Vaccine Hotline at 1-855-453-0774. Vaccines will also be available to those 12 years of age or older on Saturday, August 21 from 10 a.m. to noon at McDonogh 35 Senior High School, 4000 Cadillac St. You can also visit NOLA Ready for a list of local COVID-19 vaccine providers.

As of August 23, CORE will offer COVID-19 testing for all NOLA Public Schools at the following sites/times.

• Tuesdays 3-6 p.m. - NOLA PS Central Office (West Bank), 2401 West Bend Parkway
• Fridays 3-6 p.m. - LIVING SCHOOL (New Orleans East), 6003 Bullard Avenue
