Thank you to all our volunteers at the Community “Inspire to Serve: MLK Food Giveaway”

InspireNOLA Charter Schools and partners are pleased to announce the distribution of 250 turkeys and bags of food during the community “Inspire to Serve: MLK Food Giveaway” drive-thru held at Pierre A. Capdau Charter School, 5800 St. Roch Ave., New Orleans, on Saturday, January 16.

With the help of more than 25 volunteers, bags were filled with frozen turkeys and fresh produce and then handed out to community members.

“We recognize the need not just in our schools, but in our community, which has been made greater by the pandemic, and we believe it is our responsibility to help,” said Jamar McKneely, InspireNOLA Chief Executive Officer.

The event was part of the ongoing InspireNOLA 360˚ initiative, designed to support InspireNOLA students and families impacted by life circumstances with resources and access to important support programs.

“Together, we are facing an unprecedented crisis in our community. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re scaling student support, creating a holistic experience to serve our high-achieving student body,” said Timolynn Sams, Director of Community Engagement and Impact for InspireNOLA. “Every student should have 360˚ of support to assist them in their academic learning, and to remove non-academic barriers that may impact their educational journey.”
